Sterling, Virginia –The Heritage Farm Museum in Sterling,
Virginia seeks exhibitors and volunteers for the 5th Annual
Autumn Apple Festival scheduled for Saturday, October 24th,
2009. Learn about the history of apples and the heritage of
apple production through demonstrations of historic orchard tools, educational programs and
hands-on activities for families. Help make cider in an historic barn. Taste heirloom apples
and view over 60 varieties of rare fruit provided by the Old Time Apple Growers Association.
Heirloom apple trees will be available for sale and pre-order. Attractions include music, an
apple-inspired lunch menu and wagon rides weather permitting.
While you are at the Museum, visit the exhibit "Virginia Apples for Flavor: The Story of Hill
High Orchards".
Event is free with paid Museum admission.
The Autumn Apple Festival is held in conjunction with the Museum's educational program
"Apples, Apples Everywhere". Over 1,400 visitors attended this SOL-based program for early
learners over the past year. Children from pre-k through grade three learn about the history
and culture of apples through songs, games and hands-on activities. Classes are held
Monday through Friday from September through November 7. For reservations or more

The Heritage Farm Museum is dedicated to preserving, promoting, and bringing to life the
history of farming and the rich agricultural heritage of Loudoun County. At the Heritage Farm
Museum, you can meet Milkie the Cow, travel back in time to the Waxpool General Store and
be a farmer for a day. Your family will reap the rewards of time well spent.
The Museum specializes in hands-on classes and programs that meet the Standards of
Learning for Virginia schools. The Gift Shop features Virginia’s Finest label products and
creative gifts for home and family. The Museum is conveniently located off Route 28 and
Route 7 in Claude Moore Park, Sterling, Virginia.
